effective area tables for IceCube-Gen2</h1>

<p>This package contains tabulated neutrino effective areas for the

detector described in the <a href="">Technical Design Report for the

IceCube-Gen2 Neutrino Observatory</a>.</p>

<p>The effective areas are stored in a JSON file

<code>gen2tdreffective_areas.json</code>. The top-level object

contains metadata relating to how the table was made, while effective

areas are stored in the <code>data</code> object. Each element of this

array is an object representing the effective area of a particular event

selection (<code>channel</code>) and detector (<code>detector</code>).

The attributes of this object are:</p>

<ul>

<li><code>detector</code>: the detector used (IceCube, Gen2-Optical,

Gen2-Radio)</li>

<li><code>channel</code>: event signature for optical detection

(shadowedtracks, unshadowedtracks, cascades, starting_tracks,

double_cascades)</li>

<li><code>energy</code>: 1-D array of bin edges in neutrino energy at

the surface of the Earth, in GeV</li>

<li><code>cos_zenith</code>: 1-D array of bin edges in cosine of zenith

angle of the neutrino arrival direction. At the South Pole,

<code>cos(zenith) =~ -sin(declination)</code>.</li>

<li><code>area</code>: 3-D array of effective areas in m^2. The

dimensions are: neutrino type (anti-electron neutrino, electron

neutrino, anti-muon neutrino, muon neutrino, anti-tau neutrino, tau

neutrino), neutrino energy (in bins given …
